I am a birth photographer at heart. I am a storyteller.... now. But it was not always so. In a time long, long (long) ago I was pretty passionate about Winnipeg's local rock'n'roll scene. I frequented (not-so) scary places like "The ZOO" and listened to freq107 (incidentally, I heard my husbands voice for the first time listening to that radio station as he was the evening guy, and we met in person for the first time at The ZOO.... but that's another story for another day) ANYHOW, music has always and will always play a big role in my life (life needs a soundtrack after all) and over my years hanging out with the local music scene I met a lot of awesome people, and made some pretty great friends. I am lucky that I still call a lot of them friends to this day. Even though my weekends have significantly toned down since my younger days, they still welcome me with open arms when ever our paths cross.
Every year, a bunch of these super awesome folks host what is called the "90's Tribute Show". It's a show that brings together a lot of great musicians from multiple local bands, they cover 90's tunes all night, and raise money for different charities. Last year it was Siloam Mission & Hi-Speed Hounds, this year it was AGAPE Table and Darcy's ARC. Great causes, great people, and a great time. As much as my photography journey has led me away from music and concerts, it will always hold a special place for me. I love bringing my camera along to a great show with good friends, because photographing bands is what tipped the scale for me and drove me to pursue photography as a career.
Thanks guys for a great night! Can't wait until next year!
