2016 in a nutshell │ the personal highlights reel │family photojournalism │ aliciatphoto
With this year coming to a close, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you, my beloved clients and friends, for chosing me and allowing me into your lives to preserve parts of your stories. As I sit here, on call for my last birth story baby of the year, I get to reflect on how much trust you've all put in me, and I can look back and see how much I have grown in my art and my love of the truest moments that make our lives so imperfectly perfect.
2016 was a big year for me. This was the year I took a leap of faith and decided to leave my "day job" and pursue photography and motherhood full time. To follow my heart and show everyone that our lives are worth documenting just as they are. To help introduce my Winnipeg people to the idea that "real is the new perfect" and that wall worthy moments happen every day... we just need to take the time to see them. The year has been quite challenging, a little bit lonely and utterly chaotic, but it has also filled with so much beauty and oh so much love. Almost more love than my heart can handle.
I will be taking some time off over the holidays to spend some much needed and deserved time with my family. From December 23rd to January 23rd I won't be taking on any new clients and plan on almost entirely unplugging from social media (don't worry, if you already have a session booked you're all good! I'm just not taking on any new projects until the end of January 2017). If you have a session idea you want to run past me, or have any questions about booking a session in 2017, please feel free to email or call me! I will still be checking messages, I just may not respond with my usual promptness.
For now, I leave you with my personal family highlights reel from this past year. Some of my favorite moments from our regular days, over a regular year. Our story. And how happy and grateful I am that I can leave these memories for my kids, and maybe even my eventual grandkids...
There are some exciting things in store for next year, so stay tuned! Thanks for being here. We wish you a holiday season filled with warmth and love (and lots of wine!), and a 2017 filled to the brim with kickass memories! I look forward to being part of them.
